About Me

A qualified Architect, I discovered an passion for photography particularly of architectural subjects as a student. I first started to use a film SLR camera in the 1980s and then the darkrooms at Dundee University while studying architecture. My passion for photography has grown over the years and this site is a showcase for my that photography. Photography, whether with my Canon Film and Digital SLRs or just my camera phone, is my release from the daily grind involved in multi-million pound construction projects.

What I Shoot

Based in Hastings on the south coast of England and working in London. I love the excitement of London and photographing it’s contemporary architecture which I now combine with coastal scenes from East Sussex and Kent.

My favourite subjects, naturally, are city-scapes, architectural photography, travel photography and urban observations. I enjoy keeping abreast of contemporary photography and architecture in the galleries of London, with the Photographers Gallery, design Museum and the RIBA being particular favourites. My influences include Paul Strand, Simon Norfolk, Helene Binet, Andreas Gursky, Anderson & Low and others.

What I use

I use Canon's professional level 1Ds series Full frame 35mm Digital Body with a variety of their Professional L-series lenses from wide-angle to medium telephoto, including highly specialised tilt/shift optics suited for architectural work. I shoot in RAW mode, processing my image files with Capture One and finishing in Adobe Photoshop.

For days when only the tactile quality of a real, analogue, camera will do I use Canon T90 and F-1n cameras with various Canon & Sigma fast prime lenses.
